You shouldn’t take Vicodin if you have been taking such monoamine oxidase inhibitors as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate) or phenelzine (Nardil) asagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam, Zelapar), or tranylcypromine (Parnate); atropine (Donnatal, and others), benztropine (Cogentin), dimenhydrinate (Dramamine), glycopyrrolate (Robinul), mepenzolate (Cantil), methscopolamine (Pamine), or scopolamine (Transderm-Scop); bladder or urinary medications such as darifenacin (Enablex), flavoxate (Urispas), oxybutynin (Ditropan, Oxytrol), tolterodine (Detrol), or solifenacin (Vesicare); a bronchodilator such as ipratropium (Atrovent) or tiotropium (Spiriva); or irritable bowel medications such as dicyclomine (Bentyl), hyoscyamine (Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Levsin, and others), or propantheline (Pro-Banthine) for at least last 14 days. Otherwise it may cause some side effects. Cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, antidepressants, or seizure medication can add to sleepiness caused by hydrocodone, or could slow your breathing. Tell your doctor if you need to use any of these other medicines while you are taking Vicodin.
Vicodin may increase the effect of other medications that cause sleepiness, such as antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines and analgetics, anxiety medications, anticonvulsants and muscle relaxants. Simultaneous treatment with the medications listed above, may result in a dangerous sedation, giddiness or sleepiness. You should inform your doctor about all the drugs you take. Do not to prescribe any medicine on your own, avoiding consultations with your doctor.
Besides, acetaminophen can be found containing in some other medications, especially in those pain killers, cough remedied and antiallergic drugs which are available without a prescription. This list is not complete and other drugs may interact with Vicodin. You shouldn’t take drugs that contain acetaminophen without consulting with your doctor. Be careful, overtaking of acetaminophen may be dangerous to you.
Notice, that Vicodin can interact with some other medications which are not listed in this instruction. Consult with your doctor if you take any other prescribed medicines, as well as drugs available without a prescription, including vitamins, minerals and herbage.
